If your child is still in their adolescences, there’s a good chance that they’ll keep their sexual orientation from you at first. Middle schoolers may start to have lots of questions about gender and sexual orientation. Talking about relationships, puberty, and sex with your kids can already be awkward enough, and throwing homosexuality into the mix is enough to make you avoid having “the talk” altogether. Of course, there will always be a certain percentage of the population that will deem homosexuality as wrong, but by and large, the world has been moving in the right direction when it comes to stopping discrimination against the LGBTQ community. Luckily, we live in a time where sexual equality is becoming more commonplace thanks largely to the prevalence of gay characters on TV and in movies, along with the 2015 Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage in all of the United States.
